Andrew Michael is based in Edinburgh and London with experience in short film production for both drama and documentary. He has produced films that have gone onto their selection at festivals both in the UK and Europe. Andrew aspires to be a producer-director of short-form documentary content.

Born in Canterbury, Chester Briscall Harvey is graduating this year from The University of Edinburgh specialising in Film and Television production. His focus has been largely in the camera department but has also written and directed shorts. After graduating, Chester hopes to break into the industry as a camera assistant.

Filmmakers Andrew Michael and Chester Briscall-Harvey worked with The Friends of Edinburgh University Visual Artists to document this fascinating discussion, sharing Sandy’s unique insight into the evolving world of portraiture, and its relevance in contemporary Scotland.

The Friends of Edinburgh University Visual Arts (FEUVA) are delighted to announce the David Talbot Rice Memorial Lecture 2021, a prestigious public lecture held annually within The University of Edinburgh.

This year the speaker is Philip Long OBE. Prior to his appointment to the National Trust for Scotland, Philip Long was the founding director of the V&A in Dundee where, under his leadership, the museum received international critical recognition. Formerly he was a senior curator at the National Galleries of Scotland.

Past speakers, who are leading figures in the arts and culture, have included Ms Fiona Hyslop, formerly Scottish Minister for Culture and External Affairs, Sean Rainbird, Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, Tessa Giblin, Director of the Talbot Rice Gallery and Sir Tim O’Shea, the former principal of the University of Edinburgh.
