Åbäke is a collective of graphic designers, Patrick Lacey, Benjamin Reichen, Kajsa Ståhl, Maki Suzuki and Charlotte York, whose work focuses on the social aspect of design and the strength that collaboration can bring to a design project.

Since 2009 a wax sculpture named Fatima has accompanied Åbäke on their travels, meeting people of different nationalities and professions in order to learn about the world around her. As part of British Art Show 8, Fatima will assist Åbäke with an exhibition tour and a public talk.

The tour and talk are independent events. Places are limited and booking is required. If you would like to attend both parts of the event please ensure you sign-up to both.

The tour runs from 6 – 6.45pm. Book your free ticket.

A true tale of passion and scandal in Enlightenment Edinburgh

Starring Kelly Burke. Written by David Black. Directed by Andrew Dallmeyer

He was one of the great men in 18th-century Europe. She was one of the celebrated beauties of Georgian Edinburgh, and less than half his age. They fell in love. Edinburgh was scandalised; London was astonished; Paris was titillated. The story of the doomed relationship of David Hume and Nancy, daughter of Chief Baron of the Exchequer, Robert Ord, has been largely lost to Scottish history, until now. Kelly Burke (OffWestEnd award finalist; Best Actress) whose Zelda was a gem of the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe, unlocks the secret.

VENUE: Anatomy Lecture Theatre, Summerhall, Edinburgh EH9 1PL (Venue 26)
